AcidFC

AcidFC is an interactive application to calculate the conductivity after acid fracturing. There are four established models for the calculation of this conductivity, and all are directly dependent on confinement stresses. The application plots conductivity against confinement stresses based on the selected model.

Each model have parameters which are used to calculate the conductivity by confinement stress curves that characterize the conductivity after acid fracturing. Charts are available with confinement stresses ranging from 0 to 12,000 psi for the four referred models:

  • Nierode & Kruk (1973): Oldest model, and also the most popular. Fits a line in the logarithmic scale on the y axis.
  • Walsh (1981): Model proposed in 1981. The conductivity curve becomes a straight line with logarithmic scale on the x axis
  • Gangi (1978): Based on the model of “bed of nails.” The conductivity is linearly related to the stress raised to a constant.
  • Gong (1997): Newest model. Developed by UT Austin.
