Propag is a water injection and fracture propagation simulator developed since 2002 by LabMeC/FEC/UNICAMP for Cenpes/Petrobras.
The simulator evaluates the decline of injectivity in water injection wells, over time, due to damage caused by water injected impurities.
The decline of injectivity could lead to the need for water injection above the fracture pressure. In this case, the simulator assesses the geometry of the fracture during the injection time.
Propag takes into account quality aspects of the injected water, reservoir response (pressures) as well as geomechanical aspects and provides information on the fracture geometry over time, it also assesses injectivity and impedance before and after fracture initiation.
Since 2008 SimWorx assumed the Propag development (maintenance and extension). The current version includes support for horizontal and vertical wells, thermal effects, reservoir response (coupled well and reservoir response) and two filtration models: Carter e Perkins & Gonzales.
Propag’s numerical kernel is finite element based.
