We developed the Propagsoftware for Petrobras to simulate and evaluate the decline in injectivity in water-injection wells over time due to damage caused by water injected impurities.
Besides assessing well injectivity over time, the software also models the geomechanical stress field as the fracture propagates, and simulates the geometry of the fracture and the propagation pressure over time. The simulator allows for a number of variable input parameters including injected water quality, reservoir and fluid thermal properties, porosity-permeability features, geomechanical modeling and well completion.
Propag has a finite element based numerical kernel, can simulate both horizontal and vertical wells, and the simulation performs a coupled well-reservoir flow response in the same mathematical model, which greatly increases the simulation accuracy of the flow distribution along the extension of the well during the injection process.
